Woosehill Medical Centre Survey 2013

WOOSEHILL MEDICAL CENTRE PATIENT PARTICPATION REPORT FOR YEAR ENDING MARCH 2013

The Patients Forum has taken on a robust approach in the last twelve months .Several members have resigned for various reason and new faces have joined the Forum. The Forum consist of 11 members with the intention of restricting the numbers to 12 maximum. We believe the existing group is a good representative of our patient population including a mix of male and female patients of all ages.

Terms of Reference were discussed and amended to reflect the new approach by the Forum Members. The Chairman was re-elected and a new Secretary appointed.

The PPG felt that obtaining valid and appropriate feedback from patients was a priority and so one of the tasks that the members have agreed to oversee is Patient Surveys. The objective is to obtain a data base of patients who have consented to receive our surveys by post, e mail or handed a form from the surgery.

On 28th November 2012 the Members discussed the latest Survey conducted by the surgery. Over 250 patients completed the forms handed out by staff. It was agreed that, in general these were the best survey results the surgery had ever received and the members asked that the receptionists in particular be congratulated on an excellent performance. However the score for patients being able to choose a particular doctor was low Dr Helm, the surgery GP representative at that meeting explained that this was always potentially difficult due to doctor holidays and patients wanting a particular GP on a day that they do not work this is especially relevant to part time doctors.

It was also noted by one of the Forum Members that the total figures in the survey did not reconcile. The member who analysed the survey volunteered to rectify this. It was felt that the questionnaire had too many questions and some had been left blank which had distorted the result.

The PPG suggested using Survey Monkey for future surveys, which is also used by the Wokingham Patients Participation Group Forum.

Pressure on appointment availability is always a concern in survey results so this year the practice employed another doctor to the team, Dr Clare Tong.

An action plan was formed between the Practice and PPG Members. The members will conduct future surveys and analyse the results on their behalf.
